Tribute & Message From The Family

Peter Albro Stepp, 63, of Lee's Summit, MO, passed away May 8, 2014. This is a profound loss for his family and army of friends. Pete was a kind and tenderhearted man and a loyal friend to so many. Pete truly had a gift for serving, and always found a way to show his love for others.
Pete was born to Albro and Barbara Stepp on May 2, 1951. He had a deep love and devotion for his parents during their lifetimes. Pete had an idyllic childhood growing up in Kansas City. He graduated from SM East and the University of Kansas with honors in psychology. He was a proud member of Sigma Chi and an enthusiastic Jayhawk. Pete served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Pete's professional life was centered in the insurance industry for 30 years. He was very committed to his clients and quickly became friends with many of them. Pete's current company affiliation was with the Bukaty Companies.
He was an active member of the Lee's Summit United Methodist Church. One of the things that brought Pete much happiness was his association with the Salvation Army for over 25 years. He devotedly delivered meals each Thanksgiving and Christmas and participated in "shut-in Sunday" and the Christmas bureau. Pete was an avid sportsman, spending hours fishing and hunting with friends. He also had a lifelong love of horseback riding and boating which he did whenever he had the opportunity. Golf was one of Pete's favorite hobbies – one he enjoyed even on his last day with us.
The center of Pete's life was his family. Pete and Pam were married for 10 years and their relationship was the highlight of his life. Through love, devotion, and faith, they found their lives transformed. His family delighted in the happiness found within this union. One great privilege of their marriage was his relationship with Pam's son, Joe and wife Leslie. Pete became "Papa" to three beautiful grandchildren, Charlee, Anabelle and Rigley, with twin boys arriving in August. His love for all of them was beyond measure.
Thankful for having Pete as a brother are his siblings: brothers Dan (Jane), Tim (Debbie), and sister Amy (Lee) Greif. His niece and nephews also celebrate Pete: Carolyn (Chris), Morgan (Crystal), Samuel, Nathan (Maggie), Jonathan, Connor, Alex and Macauley, and three greats: Parker, Madelyn and Xaiden.
Pete claimed the promise of the resurrection in Jesus Christ, and we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Pete is rejoicing in Heaven today, reunited with the souls of his parents, grandparents and many loved ones. With this assurance, we can celebrate Pete's remarkable life and be thankful for the impact he had on each one of us.
Services will be held on Wednesday, May 14, at 2:30 p.m., at the Lee's Summit United Methodist Church, 114 SE Douglas St., Lee's Summit, MO. Memorial reception following the service. Private family interment will take place at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
The family suggests memorial contributions to The Salvation Army/Holiday Meals, 3637 Broadway, KCMO, 64111, Attn. Ed Fredenberg.
We love you, Pete.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Again....such a great loss to your family that my sister Olga and I can so totally relate to:(
All I know is that my sister and I thought that your Peter was one original soul. No lies....no deceptions.... and so sincere in his thoughts and actions toward us both. Peter did have an unexplained joy to life in so many situations. Looking back....maybe he was just so naturally happy and positive.
Sometimes when someone shares their perceptions of a person.....another thinks who are they talking about.....well, thats the way my sister and I truly saw your beloved Peter.
We loved your Peter and remember him with such fond and humorous memories.
We LOVE The Stepp family and have so many fabulous memories together with you all throughout the years. Your beloved and dynamic mother, your icon of a father, and your youngest little Stepp who was especially so very special to me! We were so blessed to have you each in our lives.
We will never ever forget your beloved and special Peter nor any of The Stepp Family!
God bless you all❤

Pete,
You were my father! You taught me everything I needed to know about growing up strong. You walked me to school every day, came to every school play you were even the best Teachers Assistant and room mom. You made all my haloween costumes and always took me TT. Holidays with you were the most special in my life. The decorating and music and lights always made my spirit sparkle. Your the reason I became a chef. Your the reason I have great memories from childhood. Your the reason I love clowns and your the reason I learned how to ride a bike. Every happy memory I have growing up is because of you. I miss you I always have And I will always remember you Especially when it comes time to put the christmas decorations up. You taught me SOOO much!
Love,
LeeAnne

Pete was a wonderful neighbor, always bringing lovely bouquets of flowers or corn from the market and asking if there was anything more he could do for us. We just today, June 21, heard about his passing. It shocks and saddens us greatly. Now it's our turn to ask Pam and his family if there's anything we can do for them.

Pete,
My fun-loving friend! I will never ever forget it when you came sneaking up to me while hiding behind Rick Kreher, because you were determined to dance with me at the company Christmas party. I had warned you not to embarrass me in front of my date. Little did I know, my warning was like throwing down the gauntlet or challenge to you (lol. Our 3rd floor corner at NEF was the place to be. You were fun, but I always knew if I ever needed anything you would be there to help in any way possible. I've always admired you for your love and devotion to your family, and how much you wanted to give back by donating your time at the Salvation Army. My friend you are a generous, one-of-a-kind original and I will miss you. Our loss is heaven's gain.

With Love and Friendship Always,

Pam,
Please accept my most heartfelt condolences for your loss. I am so glad you found your love and were able to enjoy ten years together. I grieve along with you, as I lost my husband in February from complications of cancer. He too had a strong faith, giving me comfort that he is in God's kingdom.
Fondly,

I remember my cousins Dan and Pete as small children. I called Pete, "Pedie". We loved to play at my grandmother's house in Kirksville, MO. whom he called Kate!! He was the most beautiful three year old when I was five. He was born with his unique voice, style, profound love for others, and desire to stay true to himself.. always through thick and thin. He loved everyone in the family and it was truly reciprocated! I have adored this wonderful human being for almost sixty years! HE WAS THE VERY BEST.he came to st. Louis to visit me last year with Pam and we had the most fun day together for which I am truly grateful. How much we shall all miss this most precious and giving soul! god bless you! xoxox Becky

Pam being your neighbor is wonderful. Pete loved you so much. He is the cutest, funniest & most caring friend. It is so sweet to watch him chasing around after your grandchildren. Most of his friends would love to see him chasing the Barbie Jeep, with the twins driving. Trying to keep them close with an extension cord tied to the back. Pete had this little floating fishing chair, it was so adorable to see him out in the lake fishing. Pete's last morning we talked, he was cleaning his golf clubs to go to a tournament. He was so excited. Goodbye Pete win that tournament, and he did. Can't imagine a Pam without Pete or Pete without Pam. So sorry you left us so early Pete, you will be missed by so many. My condolences to Pam and the family.

Pete was my neighbor for nearly 6 years and in that time we became great friends. We fished together, my daughter played with his beloved grand kids and we shared meals with Pete and his lovely wife Pam who was my wife's Kindergarten teacher. I have never met a man that loved and enjoyed his life as Pete did. I can still hear him when he would call me almost daily "Hey Brian, it's Pete - your neighbor" Like he needed to tell me who Pete was, but I think he was trying to say something in a way that he enjoyed being neighbors and wanted to get joy from saying that word. I will miss you my friend and bless you. RIP.

Pam, Joe and family,
I can't explain the emptiness I feel with out the frequent phone calls and lunches we enjoyed together. I pray every day that the comforter, our Lord, will comfort and bless you as you struggle through this loss. He always expressed to me how greatful he was that in the end...he had a beautiful wife, a great son and daughter in law and especially his grandkids! He told me they loved "PaPa" and he loved them just as much! We had a great last day together, one that I will cherish the rest of my days. God Bless.

I am still in shock. Pete was a friend in business but more than that, a friend in life. One of the funniest most compassionate guys I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He talked of his family with such love. To his wife, whom I have never met, he spoke of such adoration. He also spoke of his "son" and grandkids. They were the light and joy of his life. That's what every conversation started out with. My heart is heavy for his whole family. I will miss you my friend. There will never be another "Petie".

I just fell in Love with Pete. He talked so highly of his wife and family every time he came to visit. We meet Pete just only about 8 months ago thru using his Insurance company for our business needs. He is the best insurance man I have ever met. He took such awesome care of us. I know that is family is going through a lot of pain and our prays are with you all. He loved those grandchildren. Had all kinds of pictures on his Ipad and would show them off. He will be truly missed and thought of often by his clients and co-workers and most of all his family. We love you Pete, Debbi, Angie, Heather and Kylee and the Awards & T-Shirts Family.
