MildredR. Cannady, 91, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014.
On February 1, 1923, Mildred was born in Cleveland, OH, to Hilja and Kaarlo Raita. She was educated in Cleveland schools including Cleveland College and Dyke School of Commerce.
In February 1950, she married radio newsman, Bill Cannady, and they moved to Moberly, MO, Jefferson City, MO and finally settled in Overland Park, KS, over 50 years ago.
Her main interest was always music. She studied piano, violin and voice. She loved opera and had been a member of the Lyric Opera Guild of KC. She was proud of her volunteer work for the Johnson County Library and Shepherd's Center.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband.
She is survived by three daughters, Victoria (Mike) Mathews, of Elizabeth Lake, CA, Melinda Cannady and Kathryn Murrell, both of Overland Park, KS. She has a sister, Viola Long, and her family in Toledo, OH.
A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, KS.
