T. Lorraine Ferguson, 84, of Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 30, 2014 after a brief but brave battle with cancer.
Lorraine was born on January 25, 1930 to Fred and Thelma Reinking. She was married in 1950 to the love of her life, Marvin Ferguson, who preceded her in death in 1994. She is survived by her 4 children, Christine (Mike)Waring, of Leawood, KS; Stephanie (John)Beeder, of Prairie Village, KS; Craig (Peggy)Ferguson of Overland Park, KS; and Terri (Mike)Harmon of Highlands Ranch, CO. Lorraine is also survived by her brother Lloyd Reinking of Warsaw, MO. She also leaves behind 2 nieces, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Lorraine was born on a farm in northwest Missouri and moved to the Kansas City area in 1940 where she graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1947. Lorraine retired from Pembroke Hill School in 2000. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and served in many volunteer activities with her church and her children's activities. She was an avid bridge player an accomplished seamstress and knitter and loved to entertain friends and family. Lorraine comes from a family of fabulous cooks and will be most missed for her hospitality and "second to none" Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
Funeral service will at 12 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel. Friends will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2014 at the funeral home.
